Riders New to TNRG

Getting Started

We love welcoming new members, but we encourage you to understand more about the type of riding we do and determine whether it is a good fit for you.  In particular:

  • Road rides require Road bikes with drop handlebars.  Group D will ride quite loosely spaced as riders become more comfortable riding closer together.  Groups C through A will ride in increasingly tight and orderly pace lines.
  • Gravel rides require Gravel or Cyclocross bikes with drop handlebars.  In general on the road sections there will be pace lines, on the trails riders space out for safety.

We have posted all the routes and the pace expectations for each of the groups here.  If you are not sure about your own pace, we highly encourage you to ride one of the posted routes posted and time yourself so you can work out your average speed before signing up.

Note: For insurance purposes, all TNRG Club members must annually obtain a Cycling BC riding licence.  The licence gives each rider insurance coverage for any liability claim against them while riding on TNRG sanctioned rides.  The licence also gives certain accident coverage.  Full details of the insurance coverage provided are available on the Cycling BC website.

Note 2:  CyclingBC and TNRG Memberships operate on a Calendar Year basis, renewing in January of each year.  Joining in November/December does not get you a prorated rate.
